What we collect, why, and how long we keep it.

Who we are
Walkround Fire Risk Assessment Ltd trades as Walkround and decides how your personal data is used. Our address is Unit 4, Fenwick Yard, Saltgate Lane, Brantholme WB4 2LN. For any question about your data, email:
What we collect
When you use the quote form: your name, organisation, email address, phone number, the town or postcode of the premises, the type, size and occupancy of the premises, whether it has an existing assessment, the add-ons you want, the dates that suit you and anything you write in the free box.
When you use the contact form: your name, email address, phone number if you give one, and your message.
When you phone or email us: whatever you tell us.
At a site visit: photographs and notes of the premises, and the names and roles of the people who show us round. We aim not to photograph people. If someone appears in a frame, we crop or blur them.
Why we use it
We use your data to reply to you and prepare a quote, to carry out the assessment you book and write the report, to answer questions after it, to send you a reminder before the review date in your report, to keep records of our work and to keep our accounts.
We rely on three grounds: it is needed to give you a quote or carry out a contract you have asked for, we have a legitimate interest in running a small business and keeping records, and we must keep certain accounting records. The tick box on each form records that you have read this policy.
Who sees it
The three people at Walkround see it. We also use providers that handle data for us: our website host and form handler, our email provider, our file storage and our accounting software. They may use it only to provide that service.
We do not sell personal data and we do not pass it to advertisers. We share a report with other people only if you ask us to.
How long we keep it
Quote and enquiry details for work that does not go ahead are kept for 12 months. Reports, photographs and related records are kept for six years from the report date. Accounting records are kept for as long as tax rules require. After that we delete them.
Where it is stored
Reports are stored on encrypted drives and sent as PDF files by email. Access is limited to the three of us. Some of our providers may store data outside your country. Where they do, we choose providers that protect it to a similar standard.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data we hold about you, to correct it, to have it deleted, to limit or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy you can take elsewhere. We will answer as soon as we can and within the time data protection law allows. To ask, email:
If you are unhappy with how we have used your data, please tell us first. You can also complain to the data protection regulator in your country.
Cookies
This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add anything that does, we will say so here and ask first.
Changes to this policy
We update this page when we change how we use data. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
